Engaging the Visual Arts with Community

Our Mission:

"A coalition of artists dedicated to building an alliance between the visual arts and the community. Through exhibitions and outreach programs we assist in the professional development of emerging visual artists and contribute to the cultural and economic development of our community."

Our History:

EVAC started its mission in 2004 with the intent of creating one central networking mechanism to provide resources and other professional opportunities specifically for visual artists in the Des Moines Metro. Founded by two local artists, Michael Lane and E.J. Wickes, EVAC was built on a philosophy of providing an atmosphere of innovative thinking within the art community. We work best with artists who think of themselves within the context of the "Universal Art Community". Our artists think globally but act locally. Always interacting with our community we have been successful beyond our means in contributing to the cultural and economic development of our city at the "grass roots" level.
